Pre-release page. Launches on Steam November 9, 2026 at 3pm CET (14:00 UTC). Data here comes from the Steam page, the demo and official developer posts, and each page says which version it reflects. We'll update it for the full release.
Version: demo 7.0.1 interface guidance and demo 7.0 recipe data. The handling and injury notes are community-documented; the wiki marks its Lockpicking page unfinished. Exact timing and full-release behavior are unconfirmed here.
How to start picking a crate
The community guide describes right-clicking a crate to start, then using the attack input on the semicircular arch. The demo's own minigame help explains the feedback: selecting nearer the correct point lets the lock turn farther. Use the bindings shown by your game if you changed the defaults.
- Use the crate's interact action to open the minigame.
- Try a position on the arch and watch how far the lock turns.
- When it resists, stop that attempt and try another position.
When the lock shakes, stop and reassess
The community wiki reports that forcing a shaking lock damages the claw and picking hand. It advises withdrawing promptly and says a healthier alternate hand can be used. A lock-picking kit takes failed-attempt wear in place of the claw and makes turning faster.
After an injury, close the minigame and inspect the health panel before trying again. Check the hand and any bleeding or pain indicators. The bleeding guide covers dressings; the limb guide separates fractures, dislocations and damaged muscle. Treat the condition shown rather than assuming every failed pick caused the same injury.
If supplies are scarce, leave the crate for later. That is a safer planning choice than repeatedly forcing the same position while already injured.
Lock-picking kit recipe
The demo recipe requires INT 10 and produces a kit at 10% condition. That low starting condition is part of the recipe data, not a promise of how many attempts it will last.
| Ingredient or tool | Consumed? |
|---|---|
| Scrap panel | Yes |
| Scrap tube | Yes |
| Chunk of plastic | Yes |
| Hammering 0.2 | No — tool kept |
| Cutting 0.2 | No — tool kept |
The numbers after Hammering and Cutting are property values in the source data. See the full recipe entry and crafting troubleshooting if the recipe is unavailable.
Lockpicking leniency in run settings
The developer's demo text describes Lockpicking leniency as controlling the width of the precision angle. When preparing another expedition, review it under run settings if the minigame is difficult to use. This guide does not assume that changing an option updates an expedition already in progress.
The community handling notes are adapted from the Scav Prototype Wiki's Lockpicking page and shared under CC BY-SA 4.0. Recipe data uses the same license; controls and setting names are checked against the developer's demo text.
