Pre-release page. Launches on Steam November 9, 2026 at 3pm CET (14:00 UTC). Data here comes from the Steam page, the demo and official developer posts, and each page says which version it reflects. We'll update it for the full release.
Version guide: menu and tutorial answers use demo 7.0.1; recipes use demo 7.0. Launch details are developer announcements, not tested 1.0 behavior. Save transfer, crash recovery and mod compatibility remain unconfirmed.
Release, demo and multiplayer
When does Casualties: Unknown release, and what does it cost?
The developer announced November 9, 2026 at 15:00 CET (14:00 UTC), with a US base price of $22.99 and a 15% launch discount. This is the announced full-game launch, not a new demo update. Regional prices can differ.

How far does the free demo go?
The demo covers layers 1–5. The developer announces layers 6–11 for the full game, along with endings and other additions. Do not use an older demo discussion about a final boss as proof of the full game’s ending route.

Will demo saves carry over to the full game?
Unconfirmed. Neither the Steam posts nor the developer’s Discord posts checked on November 5, 2026 say whether demo saves will work in 1.0. Earlier major updates did break saves: the developer said 6.1 saves weren’t compatible with the 7.0 demo. Plan to start fresh at launch, and don’t count on an expedition or third-party save tool transferring.

Will the full game support Steam Workshop mods?
Not at launch. The developer said on the official Discord that there won’t be Steam Workshop support, at least on release. Existing mods are third-party work, and this guide has not checked whether any of them will run on 1.0.
Do achievements require a hard difficulty?
No, according to the developer: you can lower every run setting to make the easiest possible run and still get every achievement. The launch post lists 40 achievements; their unlock conditions are not published yet.

Is there official co-op or multiplayer?
The official Steam listing describes a single-player game. Native co-op is not confirmed here. Player discussions about multiplayer mods refer to third-party work, not an official multiplayer feature; this guide has not verified any mod’s compatibility with the upcoming full release.

Saving, pausing and resuming
How do I save my run?
In the demo 7.0.1 menu flow, finish the layer and choose Save and exit at the transition. Resume from Continue in the main menu; the menu describes returning at the start of the next layer. Quitting halfway through a layer is not this save flow.

Can I pause the game?
Yes. The official demo 7.0 update added a pause menu. Older posts asking for pause predate that change. Pausing while the game stays open is different from saving and exiting, so it does not remove the mid-layer quit warning.

Why is Continue missing after quitting or dying?
The demo’s warning says that quitting or dying during a layer erases progress. A transition save lets you continue an expedition; it is not a checkpoint you can repeatedly reload after death. If you used the normal Save and exit option and still cannot resume, the cause is unconfirmed here.

Can I recover a run after a crash?
A reliable crash-recovery procedure has not been verified for this build. Record the version and whether you used mods, console commands or a normal transition save when reporting the failure. Avoid treating instructions for a different version as a guarantee that a lost run can be restored.

Tutorial and crafting problems
What should I do if I do not understand crafting or progression?
Start with the tutorial: that is the developer’s recommendation in the pinned FAQ. For an early crafting route, the demo’s course prioritizes a container, then dressings. Our worked guide connects the intermediate recipes instead of assuming that raw materials become a finished item in one step.

What does the tutorial mean by a full dressing?
It means the finished Dressing item, rather than just the ripped dressing ingredient. In our demo recipe data, check the Dressing recipe’s ingredient quantities and condition requirements. Dragging a material onto the crafting button shows recipes that use it; having the pieces alone does not complete the task.

How do I stop crafting from consuming my bag or tools?
Favourite the equipment you want to keep. The demo tutorial uses F on the newly made knife and explains that favourites are excluded from crafting. If a recipe then seems to lack materials, check whether you protected one of its intended ingredients; use spare supplies rather than sacrificing active equipment by accident.

Why is a recipe unavailable, or why did crafting go wrong?
Check INT, intermediate ingredients, required item properties, minimum condition and favourite exclusions. The demo tutorial permits some recipes above your INT but warns of damaged output, wasted materials and injury. Matching the listed INT avoids that particular risk; it does not replace the other ingredient checks.

Injuries, languages and support
Why does opening a crate injure my hand?
The community Lockpicking page reports that forcing a shaking lock damages the picking claw and hand. Stop the attempt when it resists, then inspect the health panel before retrying. This is community-documented handling, not a tested timing rule; the source page is marked unfinished.

Where should I look for help with internal bleeding or infection?
Use the health panel to identify the condition shown, then open the matching medical section. Our guide separates bleeding, circulation, infection and limb injuries. A player report of continuing to lose health does not establish which condition caused it, so this FAQ does not prescribe one item as a cure for every symptom.

Which languages are officially supported?
The developer’s pinned FAQ names English and Simplified Chinese. It also distinguishes fan translations from approved official localizations and warns that their quality varies. A community translation being available is not proof that its wording or compatibility is endorsed by the developer.
Where do I report a bug?
The pinned developer FAQ directs bug reports to the official Discord linked in that post. Open the source below for the current invitation. Include the game version, what you did, what happened and whether mods were active; those details make a report easier to investigate.
Questions were selected from documented Steam and Reddit discussions; they are examples, not a frequency ranking. Answers use the sources linked above rather than assuming player replies prove mechanics. The Dressing and lockpicking adaptations credit the Scav Prototype Wiki and are shared under CC BY-SA 4.0.
